AsGeorge Santyana wrote in "The voice of Reason" in 1905, "Those who do not learn from the past, are condemned to repeat it." I say: "Show me someone who never makes a mistake, and I'll show you someone who never does anything."

"I'm not a racist, but..." I am sick of seeing/hearing this kind of BS! If you won't vote for a half black Barack Obama, then say so, and to hell with you! FYI: I am a 70 year old white veteran of 28 years in the US Air Force. I retired in 1986. Then I worked for Tulare County CA for 22 years And retired for good last June. Naturally, I voted for Obama-Biden! I don't vote against my own best interests!

Do you think it strange that people who actually took part in war are against war, while those who dodged war are quick to start wars? I don't find it strange at all. George Santayana said, in 1905, in "The Life of Reason," "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

This proposed action by the SEC is just another rotten example of the Bush regime's kowtow to corporate CEO's!

UN Resolution 242 calls upon Israel to pull back to the "Green" line - the pre 1967 border.

Lest we forget to hound the Republicans in seats that the Democrats can capture. The IL 6th district is a case in point. Rahm Emanuel cost the Democrats that seat. He engineered the defeat of progressive Christine Ceglis. Rahm's choice, an Iraq war vet, lost to the Republican.

Let Solidarity be our watchword. As a long time member of SEIU, I am not happy with the split from the AFL/CIO. "United we stand, Divide we fall," seems a most sensible philosopy to me. Stern talking to WalMart turned my stomach. Our previous local was absorbed into a giant new SEIU "local." I've yet to hear one word from the "New local."

One thing stands out - the people of Iran are NOT Arabs. They are Muslims. All Muslims are NOT Arabs. Think Indonesia - the most populous Muslim country in the world.

I lived in Texas for about 10 years. There really are some highly intelligent people living in Texas. "texasindependent" is not one of them.

Stone's newsletter was absolutely great. I subscibed during the Viet-nam "war" while I was in the US Air Force. He was that "breath of fresh air" we needed. Just for the record, I served on active duty for 28 years and retired in 1986.

Illegals. ..communists...subversives..."Krauts"..."Japs"... "gooks"... "hadjis"...Are scapegoats ALWAYS needed? Unless you are Native American, each and every one of us is an immigrant or a descendent of immigrants. Were THEY all legal?

The conspiracy theory of history has always struck me as completely nuts. Hundreds or thousands or even 10's of people can keep secrets? Never happens and never happened. Peace.
