If you are so scared of the "unitary executive" from the Supreme Court why are the Democrats so coward in using the filibuster? They easily have the 41 plus votes to stop a cloture. Instead, they are braying like whimps from the sidelines. Then they pander and ponificate and say they're afraid of the "nuclear option". Real reason - they know how a filibuster would play out, and they know that the strong majority of Americans support Alito's nomination at this point. They are leaderless, scattered, and embarrassed about what happened in the hearings. If they aren't - why are the …

I think capital punishment is wrong and would vote to overturn it. I also think Tookie should have lived out his pathetic embarrassment of a life in that dungeon in anonymity for brutally murdering 4 innocent people (and he wasn't even a man enough to admit that he did it - as the courts have proved over, and over, and over again). Some people just can't get their heads around convictions, some people still believe OJ didn't do it! Normal people find this hard to believe of course. But there are still cranks out there. Tookie was a cheap street thug …

"Chicagoans: On Monday, January 23, at noon, Dave Eggers will present a reading and discussion of Surviving Justice at Quimby's (1854 W. North Ave.). He will be joined by exoneree James Newsome, who was wrongfully convicted of murdering a convenience-store clerk and was eventually exonerated after spending 15 years in prison." - www.McSeeneys.net A bit of last minute notice but if you care about the death penalty they are some great people to support if you are in the area. Right in Bucktown. Eggers would be promoting one of his new works- "Surviving Justice: America's Wrongfully Convicted and Exonerated". It's held …

Nuclear power is the only practical way to reduce increasingly higher rates of greehouse emissions. No wonder one of the founders of Greenpeace is such a staunch supporter of it. Good call with the impeachment thing Brian. We'll keep our eye on that one. Good luck - believe me, the Dems can't look like buffoons all the time. Something is going to stick! Hopefully! Let's just keep seeing how that pans out moving forward everybody.

Unbelievable. A Democrat who finally understands some basic issues! Great article Flavia - but I'm sorry, not sure what the Dems are possibly going to be able to do with it. Remember the line about "herding cats"? By the way, Biden putting on a Princeton hat - priceless. And he's a Dem front runner for '08?! Troubled waters ahead if the party can't even figure out to competently question a judge with 3 months warning.

Flavia - Just caught you on Tucker's MSNBC show on Weds night. Looks like you have the guts to actually go out on the air and say what you write. You support Warner (gov, Democrat, could turn a red state blue, etc) over - horror! - Hillary Clinton (another liberal northeast Senator - yeah, great idea, again Dems). Are you the only one in the Democratic party that understands polls? I'm very impressed. Might make a race of it - if they would ever listen to you. But I don't think they will. Screaming about Dubya and ranting is what they …

Oops - Should have said "Kaine" DEMOCRAT - not "Warner" - (the old Repubub - just got used to saying his name I suspect). my bad. You're still right though. I can't imagine how Hillary would be supported by the hard left or anybody in the middle. Need some tough leadership is what them Dems need. And fast.

Yeah, and this is the country ITT has supported in acquiring nuclear weapons. Oh, and they stated that Iranians are "arab". Brilliant work "alternative media". -To the guy who actually proudly calls himself "Rabbit" - see a therapist man, sitting in front of your computer all day posting on a website is no way to go through life.

Rabbit- "Give Iranian Nukes a Chance" by Zizek. Published in this magazine in August. You can find it in the archives on this website. Is my "slanderous claim" backed up? You perfectly represent the Progressive mindset. You should be proud of your insight and keep churning out the good word. I was going to write a cogent, sane, and normal response to your, um, thoughts - but I think I just feel sad for you at this point.

Rabbit- To a grown man who actually calls himself a bunny name, well, I think I get it now. I surrender, you beat me, you are kicking so much booty with your posts that Progressive thought is going to rule - I mean rule to the "extreme"! Dog! (insert other, um, adjectives here)- in the elections. Just please stop, pretty please, you are mercilessly kicking me down - and I can't come up for air anymore. If you keep posting like this I'm basically fried. "Progressives", like yourself and this paper, just get it done son. As I tremble and shake …

"Ghost Rabitt" and "Wileywitch" - you are, of course, two different "Progessives". I just checked in after seeing the White Stripes- I did this b/c I know loser Progessives hang around websites all day - and I needed my entertainment. Honestly, it's the weekend guys, don't be like an ITT editor, take some time to chill.

Maybe I should post all of the anti-homo, anti-women, pro-gang rap lyrics that are out there. Oops- couldn't possibly do that here though. Why is that again?

You do have to love the elitest snobbery of the piece though. Craig is so above the common man - so is ITT. Let's see if they can write an actual positive piece about something in '06. Not just critical snob rags about whatever dumb topic floats their boat ("jingoistic country music"? I can't stop laughing. Make fun of the Jews next time guys - you're better at that), but something positive about the Dems. 5 bucks they can't.
