It makes great TV.
Posted by X on Feb 2, 2003 at 4:06 PM This is EXACTLY what is wrong with this country now--you said it all when you said “It makes great TV!” The sheep in America who get all of their news from TV and let television (which is controlled now by very few) form all of their opinions will blindly go along with whatever television tells them to believe.
They will continue to ignore the war protests--just like they did during View Nam--until they get too large to ignore.

Posted by John Harris on Feb 6, 2003 at 8:40 AM I recently overheard a Bush supporter who comented that the last year or so she wished she had not brought children into this world… I remember the economy and the budget surplus and the high hopes we all had for the future so I asked her what had changed… when she didn’t answer I speculated that W. Bush might have somthing to do with it… her eyes glazed over and she said it was Clinton… How sad for us all.

We used to ask ourselves which of the window-breakers were in the pay of the cops/feds/private right-wingers. Political provocation is the effort to induce the opposition to act against its own interests.
It would be fascinating to hear some ideas (for anti-war activists) on how best to limit the damage from the violence-prone fringe.
