it is a sad commentary that the press spends so little time on the negative impact of illegal immigration on African Americans and working class Americans without high school diplomas.

    kick the freeloaders out

I am more concerned about the inept leadership in control of this countries future.

There is only one real solution to this problem---rather than spending $9,000,000,000 (Billion!) per month on an illegial war in Iraq--a war that enriches Bush and his cronies while at the same time destoying the very fabric of this nation--we, as a nation, should focus our resources on bringing Mexico’s economy up to a level comparable with Canada’s and our own.

Until Mexico’s economy is on a par with our own, no amount of barrier fence or number of border guards will stop the influx of non-American human beings into this country. That is what we are talking about here---fellow human beings seeking to improve living conditions for themselves and their loved ones.

I wonder how many of us here wouldn’t hesitate to do the same thing? How long could we watch our children go without proper medical care, a good education, decent food, shelter & clothing, all the while knowing that by simply changing our geographical location, we could dramatically improve their lives?

I know what I would do--so I can’t honestly blame someone else for doing the very same thing. I’m sure they love their children as much as I love mine---and they want the best for their familiy, just as I want the best for mine.

It’s not a matter of keeping them out--it’s a matter of removing that which causes them to come here in the first place.

Let’s take some of that $300 million per day we’re spending in Iraq, on people who hate us a half a world away, and instead, help our next door neighbor step into the 21st century. Are we no longer that shining beacon on the hill? Or has George Bush & his gang of treasonous thugs truly destroyed this United States of America?

    1) Secure ports and borders--do whatever is needed to accomplish--all in accordance with present existing law!
    2) Start an aggressive round-up of illegal alien criminals--if they’re here
illegally, they’re criminals!  Do whatever is needed to accomplish--all
in accordance with present existing law!
    3) Detain them, identify them and record data!  If they’ve committed crimes while in our Country, prosecute them!  The ones that are here
merely to gain employment should be returned to the border where they
entered, dumped out and told to “get”, with the understanding if they ille-
gally return again they’ll be subject to long term imprisonment at hard
    labor!
    4) Make serious, sincere effort to determine American employers of
illegals and prosecute them to maximum extent of present law!  ASAP increase penalties--triple fines and add jail time!
Finally, let’s all remember we now have laws to do all these things to protect
our Country!-- let’s try to remember through November that the Republicans AND Democrats are ignoring their oaths of office by NOT
enforcing our laws!  If I look up the definitions of TREASON and SEDI-
tion they seem to be applicable!  We need a good housecleaning, a
clean sweep, in Washington!  We need to look for a true American, if
    such exists(?)--an Independent?--a Libertarian?--a Constitutionalist?

    Round up 11,000,000 people?

    Dream on.

And how many prisons shall we build?

    Let’s get real, for starters.

The figure I heard was 30million, but who knows?.  This bush/cheney
gov’t doesn’t know either--but they don’t care--as long as their corporate base, their masters, are pleased!  But, yes--start rounding them up!
Vicente Fox sent them here (all 30million?) by giving them plenty of
incentives to do so!  I feel sorry for all these people but not enough to
ignore the horrendous damage this invasion is doing to our Country!
We,-- our(?) Gov’t needs to enforce our present laws--it seems treasonous to me that the bushites along with their cronies, the demo-
crats, after having taken an oath of office to obey and enforce the laws
of the land, continue to dither!  In general, they are so corrupt it’s obvious
they have no intention of doing their job!
Hell yes!--start rounding them up and giving them incentive to go away
and stay away!-if we “dry” up their jobs and do away with their “welfare”,
education, medical, food stamps, et al!  We don’t have to accomplish
the job immediately but, the sooner we start the sooner we’ll be done!
In addition to the ILLEGALS we could also apply the same incentives
to these damned Politicians--maybe we could get rid of them too!

Who knows? Certainly not you--the number is nowhere near 30 million! There are around 11 million undocumented, or illegial, aliens in this country at the present time. That is a fact. The Bush/Cheney gov’t does know, as did the Clinton Administration before them, the Bush Administration before that, the Reagan Adminstration prior to that...and so on and so forth. And they have been crossing the border into this country long before Vincente Fox was elected, so your allegation that Fox sent them here is also wrong.

I can tell by your posts you’ve not given the situation any real thought--you are merely reacting emotionally. Do you have any sense of how many people 11,000,000 is? Of course not--that’s obvious. So, subsequently, you have no real grasp as to the logistical nightmare that would ensue following implementation of your heart-felt “Hell yes!-start rounding them up...!”

Your reaction to the immigration problem reminds me of Bush’s challenge when he stood up there and said “Bring’m on!” to the world regarding the insurgents into Iraq.

The first thing that needs to happen regarding the immigration situation is for folks to somehow receive a major reality check--then a little (a lot) more actual education on the issue would be a good idea, as well.  Rather than reacting to a 30 second sound bite, or listening to someone just as mis/uninformed as they are for “information”, folks should educate themselves on the intricities of the situation, then formulate an actual solution to the problem.

You’re correct--I don’t know how many illegal aliens are here--but then
    you don’t either--and “that’s a fact” The Mexican gov’t is almost cer-
tainly corrupt as ours so it really doesn’t matter who is in charge, the
illegals will continue to come!  And, I believe we need to stop the in-vasion--It’s our Country and we need to protect it as best we can from
criminals!  And, yes, I say it again, we need to start catching them and
sending them back to where they came from!
